What To Expect at Alpha Dental

Dentist shaking hands with a patient

We discuss all aspects of your care so you can make informed decisions about your dental health!

There is no secret or surprise about what goes on in a dental office and why it’s necessary to see your dentist. At Alpha Dental, we offer both general and cosmetic dentistry services and we promote dental wellness care to help you maintain healthy teeth and gums.

As a new patient we ask that you complete our intake forms to provide us with an overall view of your medical history and health. At your initial visit, Dr. Martin completes a comprehensive dental exam that includes a thorough examination of your entire mouth, jaw and neck area. The jaw and neck are checked for signs of TMJ.

Dental X-rays are also taken at this time. This comprehensive exam gives Dr. Martin a foundation to determine changes in your dental health when you come in for your regular appointments.

Dental Check-ups

We recommend two annual appointments (every six months) for dental hygiene services. This will include a dental check-up and dental x-rays (if necessary). During these routine appointments, our hygienist will deep clean your teeth and gums. Then Dr. Martin will check for any signs of tooth decay, changes in your gums, and any indications of oral disease.

From time to time, Dr. Martin may find a cavity that needs to be filled, a tooth in need of a root canal or that requires extraction and replacement with a dental implant. All procedures and findings are thoroughly explained and our recommendations will be discussed with you so that you can make an informed decision about what’s best for you.

Please inform us if there are any changes in health conditions or medications you may be taking since your last visit to our Denver dental practice. We need to know about all conditions, even if you don’t think they are related, because many health-related incidents affect your dental health. For example, diabetes carries a higher risk for developing periodontal disease and some medications can cause dry mouth.

Advanced Dental Methods

Be sure to let Dr. Martin know if you are experiencing any type of dental pain or discomfort. This is the number one fear for many patients when they visit us at Alpha Dental. We never want you to suffer needlessly when Dr. Martin can ease your pain, worry and fear with the advanced dental methods we use in our practice.

When you come in for your initial visit, or during any routine dental appointment, we may recommend preventive services, such as sealants, fluoride treatments or removal of amalgam fillings that can help maintain your dental health.
